Large knife guide - different knife blades and uses

Here you’ll find Game-On’s selection of knife types

We have many different knives here at Game-On! Everything from folding knives, training knives, work knives, hunting knives, and collectibles! The knives originate from all the way from Japan in the south to the Sámi people in the north. They have been used for agriculture, and some for combat and warfare! Today, we most often use them for hunting, when we’re out and about, or for general everyday use. There are countless different blade types and applications. In this guide, we’ll go through the various types we sell here at Game-On!

Normal Straight

A great knife for everyday use! The blade has one side that is completely straight and not sharp, while the other side has an edge that curves up toward the tip. This makes it ideal for cutting, chopping, and whittling, as you can press down with the palm of your hand on one side.

Drop Point

One of the most common knife blades, just as good for hunting as it is for everyday use! The knife has a strong point with a long cutting edge, making it great for opening things and cutting!

Clip Point

Excellent for fishing and hunting! The Clip Point blade has a long cutting edge and a sharp tip that provides great precision!

Bowie

A very good hunting and outdoor knife! It has a distinctive design and is very sturdy! It may resemble a Clip Point in shape, but the Bowie is a bit more extreme in many ways!

American Tanto

The American Tanto blade is inspired by the Japanese sword and has a sturdy blade with an extra edge at the tip. This makes it ideal for cutting both hard and delicate materials.

Hawksbill

Stylish and unique knife designed to imitate a tiger claw! It was originally used to break up and rake through soil and pick rice in Asia! A great tool for carving or cutting, and a stylish knife for your collection!

Dagger

Dangerous little weapon with a sharp point and two sharp edges. Used by Bilbo in The Lord of the Rings and originally used in combat as a deadly weapon. That's why we at Game-On don't carry real weapons, but we do have some cool foam/rubber props!

Miscellaneous

We also have a few other types of knives that may have completely different uses, such as a razor, fillet knife, and axe.Take a look at the selection below!

Accessories for knives

After a while, knives become dull, so having a good sharpening stone is important! From time to time, it can also be a good idea to oil them to protect them from rust.
