Along with the gun you get a .45 ACP fake cartridge which is also used to silence the hop-up.

Softgun gas with blowback - How it works

Fill the magazine with softgun gas and 6mm BBs, when the magazine is empty the slide is locked in the rear position as on the sharp version. The blowback gives recoil when you shoot.
Lubricate with silicone spray regularly.

A softgun gas magazine is included, but the gun can also withstand the use of Co2 magazines (not included).
